shot types-
A series of frames, that run for an uninterrupted period of time.
There are eight main shot types.
extreme long shot-
A wide view of a complete scene. Emphasis an expense of space, isolation, grandeur of spectacle.
The subject is barely visible.
long shot-
Closer than XLS(extreme long shot), but still see the whole scene and the person is in the frame fully.
Usually establishes locations.
medium long shot-
Still gives a great deal of subject most likely from the knee up of the subject.
A good view showing body language.
medium shot-
On a human body, around waist to a little space above the head.
Shows gestures, expression and detail of physical appearance.
medium close-up-
Typical for newsreaders, shoulder up.
Mostly shows conversation between characters and reaction shots.
close-up-
Shows detail of subject, usually just the face and shows them in greater detail.
big close-up-
Shows detail of the subject.
From middle of the forehead to chin.
Mainly showing the social triangle.
extreme close up-
Smallest portion of detail.
Entering the characters intimate space.
Creates a sense of tension within the audience.
